About the event

Due to popular demand, we will now be teaching three games on Wednesdays.

This Wednesday we will be playing Payday, Machi Koro Bright Lights Big City, & Weather Machine.

Pay day: 4.9

Pay Day is played on a one-month calendar with 31 days. During the game, players will have to deal with various bills and expenses, but will also have the opportunity to make deals on property and earn money. At the end of each month, players are paid their salary (the same for each player) and must then pay off all outstanding bills, taking out a loan if necessary. Most money (or least debt) wins after a certain number of months decided by the players

Machi Koro Bright Lights Big City: 6.6

You've done a great job as Mayor! Machi Koro: Bright Lights, Big City shows how popular Machi Koro has become! What started as a sleepy town of cheese factories and wheat fields has become a hot tourist destination!

Explore the night life of Machi Koro with a new gameplay set-up that makes each game play unique without ever slowing down the high-paced fun or losing any of the original charm.

Machi Koro: Bright Lights, Big City is a standalone, fast-paced game for 2-5 players. Each player wants to develop the city on their own terms in order to complete all of the landmarks under construction faster than their rivals. On their turn, each player rolls one or two dice. If the sum of the dice rolled matches the number of a building that a player owns, they get the effect of that building; in some cases opponents will also benefit from your die (just as you can benefit from theirs). Then, with money in hand a player can build a landmark or a new building, ideally adding to the wealth of his city on future turns. The first player to construct all of their landmarks wins!

Weather Machine: 7.8

In Weather Machine, you are scientists on Prof. Lativ’s team, tampering with local weather: adjusting rainfall for farms, maintaining wind and clear skies for ecological energy sources, and tweaking the temperature for resorts and sporting events. The prototype is quite effective so far; however, a pattern has emerged, revealing a worrying side effect: Each use of the Weather Machine also alters the conditions elsewhere on the planet — a “butterfly effect”.

"We must build a new prototype,” he announces as the agents shoot him sidelong glances; “…but this time we’re going to get it right.” The agents silently give a single, crisp nod of confirmation. “The government is funding this, and we will succeed.” As Prof. Lativ explains the plan, the need to secure suppliers for sufficient bots and chemicals is clear. In addition to the materials, time is of the essence; you must be focused and efficient to have any hope of reining this growing global terror, Earth’s atmosphere before conditions are too harsh for Homo sapiens and other species.

Come join us on Wednesday, April 17th @ 6:00 p.m. to learn any of these games for Workshop Wednesday. See you soon!
