Reichbusters Project Vril: 7.6
Reichbusters: Projekt Vril is a fast and furious game with lots of weird science, witty one-liners, and heroic moments set during World War II. It is late December 1944 and, on the face of it, history has unfolded as we know it, but that could be about to change.
The Nazis have discovered a source of "evil" that has been brought back to the Reich for study. Vril is a source of energy that can control all types of matter. It can destroy like lightning or replenish life, heal, or cure. It is used to rend through solid matter. Its light is said to be steadier, softer, and healthier than that from any flammable material. It can also be used as a power source for animating mechanisms.
If the Nazis work out how to harness this power it will be more potent than the atomic bomb. The secret Nazi experiments are not just a threat to the outcome of the war but to the entire world. Many different secret bunkers hold all manner of research into the properties of the enigmatic vril and we're sending you, the Reichbusters, on a mission to stop this research in its tracks!
Players will choose from a selection of Allied Heroes and visit R&D to prepare equipment before venturing out on missions against the evil "Vrilmeisters". Mission objectives will vary from mission to mission while secondary objectives could appear as the heroes explore the bunkers. Each mission will see the players facing off against more and more heinous enemies, from re-animated corpses to dark experiments, and from ferocious mutations gone wrong to the evil Vrilmeisters themselves.
GI Joe Mission Critical: 7.7
Join the team and battle Cobra in G.I. JOE Mission Critical, a cooperative miniatures board game. Stop Cobra in locations around the world, and try to defeat Cobra Commander himself to save the day!
G.I. JOE Mission Critical uses the Guardian System, providing a tense, challenging, and cooperative gaming experience.
Steampunk Rally: 7.2
Steampunk Rally is a strategy game that incorporates steampunk as more than just a bit of chrome. Using a unique dice-placement mechanism, players take on the roles of famous inventors from the turn of the last century like Nikola Tesla and Marie Curie, constructing fantastical contraptions that make use of steam, heat and electricity in an attempt to win a no-holds-barred race through the Swiss alps.
Each round starts with a card draft in which players carefully select machine parts to add to their invention and one-shot boost cards to aid them or hinder opponents. Players also have the option of discarding drafted cards for dice or cogs to power their invention, but they must make this tricky choice when each card is drafted.
Then, after venting dice to revitalize their machines, players roll their dice and use them to activate machine parts which provide things like movement, shielding, and additional dice with which to activate more parts. Driving through terrain causes damage, and if a player's damage gauge ends up in the red at the end of the turn, they must lose parts from their invention. These will need to be replaced in the draft phase, constantly forcing players to discover new synergies.
Come join us on Wednesday, Aug 23rd @ 6:00 pm to learn any of these games for Workshop Wednesday. See ya soon!
